HTC prepping Android 3.0 Tablet for 2011

HTC prepping Android 3.0 Tablet for 2011Buzz about HTC-Google collaboration for a tablet has sparked over the web again. A few Taiwan based component makers have tipped DigiTimes that HTC is planning to launch Google Android 3.0 running tablet computer by next year. Well, we did see this coming, but weren't sure of the timing. HTC and Google have strong ties ever since the first Android phone was launched.

These Taiwanese component makers believe that HTC has plans to launch Android 3.0 equipped tablet PC in the first quarter of 2011. No further blurb was mentioned about the hardware or the screen size of the tablet. Let's hope that the tablet has something more to offer other than the Android 3.0 OS.

Back in January, Anthony Petts, Australian sales and marketing director at HTC, stated that the company has shelved the plans for the tablet and wanted to focus on smartphones. But we didn't lose hope and knew that the HTC-Google collaboration would be still working on a tablet project. However in April, Eric Schmidt, Google CEO had casually stated that Google is testing the tablet in stealth mode.

Amongst the league of Apple iPad rivals, HTC-Google duo has been the strongest contender. Following these companies, RIM, Nokia, Motorola, and even LG are reportedly planning to release tablets.
